Discover the “Beating heart of the Amazon”


Set off with our experienced staff, for a trip through the magnificent tropical rainforest of Surinam. Navigate the immense rivers and wild streams with rapids and waterfalls. Admire the giant forest trees and the unique flora and fauna during a jungle hike and climb the peak of one of the bold granite mountains for a breathtaking picture of the Amazon. During these trips you will explore centuries old cultures and traditions of the Marrons (the ancestors of the escaped negro slaves) and various Indian tribes (the original inhabitants of Surinam).

Unforgettable Expeditions

The combination of nature, adventure and culture make our expeditions really unforgettable. When traveling through the Amazon of Surinam you will expose yourself to an adventurous way of traveling, which means that you will sleep in hammocks with mosquito nets in authentic and simple camps, you will bathe and do dishes in the river, and your active participation is required for the expedition to be successful (e.g. pull the boat trough sulas (little rapids, where the water is too low to sail), carrying luggage etc.). During the trip the meals exists of authentic Surinam food, which in many cases, will come directly from the Amazon such as fish from the river, vegetables and fruit grown at the little gardens of the villagers.

Adventurous travel

Our own brand, Green adventures, is specialized in adventurous trips to the heart of the interior of Surinam. These trips are guided by guides and boatmen, who origin from the respectable area. Therefore they know the rainforest as the back of their hands. Together with the boatmen, Kulaman, guide and cook you will experience an unforgettable trip. As a participant you are expected to actively participate and show a sportive attitude.

Wild rapids

Our crew is our key for a successful expedition. They perfectly know the area and they are proud on the territory of their roots. Sensi, one of our guides, explains to us: “I love to guide visitors in the jungle. Every trip is different and that is what keeps me enthusiastic” . Taka, our experienced boatmen, nimble navigates us over the wild rapids and manoeuvres the boat through streams that are only passable with difficulty. “I know the river, this is my home”. Alma, the cook tells us: “I love to treat our guest well and pamper them with my cooking skills. I enjoy it, as well as our guest do. We are all having a good time!”

Our offer

For the Green Adventures tracks, you can opt to start with the Green Adventure Take-off package. This package is a perfect arrangement to set off your trip to Surinam.

Tracks are our round trips through Surinam. Our starting point is Paramaribo, where we take off and return by bus. The round trip contains e.g. of hiking tours through the jungle. Along the way, we sleep in camps and bring our own food.

Expeditions are our trips to the deep heart of the Amazon. We travel by plane to reach the interior. From there we will continue to travel per local boat (Korjaal). We sleep in hammocks in authentic camps.

Survivals are exciting tracks crossing the jungle, passing streams and sail over wild rivers. We will learn about survival techniques and will live as much as possible from what nature offers us. We sleep in hammocks in authentic camps.

Hike- and canoe tracks are perfect trips for those that enjoy active holidays. We sleep in tents in the untouched Amazon rainforest.
