There is no other South American country that offers as much versatility as Surinam. In this exceptional country, eight total different communities live closely together. Each group presents its own culture, religion, language and eating habits. Here, the Hindu roti alternates by the most delicious Javanese bami, Chinese shrimps or Creole pom. A synagogue is located directly next door to a mosque.

Besides this mishmash of cultures, Suriname offers a magnificent nature. The inland that covers around 80% of the whole country, exists of almost unspoiled tropical rainforest, which is crossed by wide, wild rivers.

In this part of the country you will find a diversity of exotic flora and fauna. In numbers, there is a vegetation of about 4500 different plant species and there are almost 700 different types of birds.

Suriname Holidays is a trademark of Ward Consultancy Amsterdam. The management of Suriname Holidays has a broad experience in organizing trips to far destinations.

Wernard Immink

is the founder/director of Ward Consultancy and has been active in tourism for around 34 years. After several management functions with big travel agencies such as NBBS and Unietravel he decided it was time to start his own business. Since he grew up in Africa, where his father organized expeditions for a multinational, the decisions was easily made: special trips to the beautiful and untouched jungle of Surinam. Wernard is joint owner of Blue Frog Suriname – the local office of Suriname Holidays- and of Waterland River Resort. Through his extensive knowledge of the country, is he the point of contact for trips and expeditions in the interior of Surinam. Since his youngest son regularly joins him to Surinam, he can offer practical advise over traveling with children in the tropics.

Suzette Eeltink

, office manager of Suriname Holidays, is working for over 15 years in tourism. On the headquarter of NBBS she worked on the department of far destinations then she joined Singapore Airlines/ Tradewinds where she developed their travel programs. Now she feels home at Suriname holidays, travels several times a year to Surinam and participates in our expeditions. She has an extensive knowledge of the city Paramaribo and its accommodations. She can advice on the different flight opportunities. Even the destinations Trinidad and Tobago belong to her knowledge, which countries she has visited several times.
