Day 1 Paramaribo - Raleighvallen



We depart by plane from airport Zorg en Hoop to the airstrip near Foengoe Island in the Central Surinam Nature Reserve. The nature reserve is the largest jungle reserve in the world and houses some 350 species of birds, all 8 types of the apes of Surinam and mammals such as tapirs, and the pingo (a wild forest pig).

Overnight stay is on Foengoe Island in the Gonini Lodge, a basic accommodation with private sanitary facilities.

Day 2 Jungle walk with a climb to the Voltzberg top



At breakfast everyone prepares his/her lunch for the tough walk of that day. A beautiful walk through the rainforest takes us to the foot of the Voltzberg in about three hours. On the way explanation is given about the different plants and with a bit of luck you will now and then see monkeys and birds. Then, we climb the 240-meter-high Voltzberg (everyone who prefers to remain down can stay in the house at the foot of the mountain with one of the guides).

Along the steep path grow beautiful orchids and bromeliads. From the top of the mountain, you have a spectacular view of the tropical rainforest. At the end of the afternoon, after the walk back through the jungle there is the opportunity to bathe in the cool Anjumara waterfalls. At night, after dinner it’s time to recover of the strenuous journey and all the impressions gained. Overnight stay is at Foengoe island.

Day 3 Moedervallen - Foengoe Island



In the morning, there is a walk to the Moedervallen (Mama waterfalls), the largest sula (rapid) of this area. Later in the day there is the time to swim, relax, fish or feed the monkeys and to enjoy the special birds that fly over the airstrip.
Overnight stay is at Foengoe Island.

Day 4 Foengoe Island - Paramaribo



During the morning and early afternoon, everyone prepares for departure. The return trip to Paramaribo is by air.
In a small airplane we fly over the rainforest and arrive at the airport Zorg en Hoop, where you return to your hotel of stay by taxi.
