Easy and comfortable, since everything is arranged before you depart and is included in the price. Prior to your departure you already have a clear picture of the total costs of your trip and you will not loose precious holiday time arranging your travel program at the spot. You will travel individually and stay in good facilities during your nights in Paramaribo. During your trips through the interiors of Surinam, which will be in a group and accompanied by local guides, you will sleep in camps or small huts. The days in Paramaribo you spend as you please. Of course, our local staff is available to support and to advice you, and give suggestions during your stay. A successful and well tested formula!

Short trips and expeditions

Our short trips and expeditions are often used in combination with our Take-off package. All tours will be accompanied by local Dutch speaking guides. Transport, excursions, dinners, snacks, coffee/tea and water are included in the price. Dinners are prepared by a local cook. A number of trips will take place as from 2 participants, whereas other excursions require a minimal number of 4 participants. The trips usually start early in the morning at around 8.00 AM. At the final day of an expedition you will be back in Paramaribo around 6.00 PM.

Easy-going short bike trips

The best way to explore the districts of Para and Commewijne at your own pace is per bike. We offer 2 enjoyable bike tours to the Plantation Frederiksdorp and the River Resort Waterland, where you can stay overnight in a plantation guesthouse that includes shower/ toilet. After a day of cycling this is a lovely place to enjoy a well-deserved break with a book and refreshing drink in a hammock.

Jungle expeditions

Our jungle expeditions consist of exciting boat trips by korjaal via small streams and wild rapids, alternated with firm hikes through the jungle. Overnight stays are in hammocks or beds at small campgrounds (mosquito nets available). The meals during the trips are prepared with local ingredients and local products.

Savanne and Coastal expeditions

Exiting tracks through the jungle or passing the rough coastal area of Surinam. Camps are set up by the group and we try to learn as much as possible from our local guides about live in the nature. Nights are spend in hammocks or small tents.

Hike- and canoe trips

Hike and canoe trips start from the Kabalebo Nature Resort. With special expedition canoes you will cross the Kabalebo river. A hiking tour will bring you to the top of the Misty Mountain. These tours will be accommodated by Dutch speaking, experienced guides. As part of the 6- and 7 days tours we offer an intensive 3-days hiking expedition in the Nassau mountains. As part of most of the tracks and expeditions there will be firm hikes to either mountains, for example the Voltzberg, Tebutop, Kasikasima mountains, or crossing the deep jungle to a refreshing waterfall or creek.

Canoe expeditions

Suriname holidays organizes in collaboration with Challenge travel magnificent canoe trips for people of all age. These trips go through the interior of Suriname. Discover the beauty of the Surinam interior in an active and adventurous way. Float soundless through small streams and over wild rapids and enjoy the riches of the overwhelming flora and fauna that Surinam offers.

Daytrips

The day trips are designed for those that prefer to continue their stay in the hotel and enjoy short trips to explore more of the city and the countryside. These trips will be guided by our Dutch speaking, local guides. A number of these excursions will start with a minimum of 2 participants, some require more participants.

Extension of your stay

You can always extend your stay in Surinam. After the round trip you can add extra trips to your booking, rent a car/bike to explore the area, or to visit your family and friends. Your return ticket is valid for a maximum stay of two months.
